Vivi\u00f3 hace unos 255 millones de a\u00f1os en lo que hoy es Sud\u00e1frica y Namibia, en un paisaje que combinaba llanuras \u00e1ridas, r\u00edos estacionales y zonas de vegetaci\u00f3n dispersa. Su cuerpo era ancho, con un t\u00f3rax profundo y costillas gruesas que proteg\u00edan un sistema digestivo especializado en procesar plantas duras y fibrosas. Las extremidades eran cortas pero poderosas, proyectadas hacia los lados en una postura semierguida que le permit\u00eda caminar con estabilidad sobre terrenos irregulares. Aunque no era r\u00e1pido, s\u00ed era constante, capaz de recorrer largas distancias en busca de alimento sin agotarse. Su locomoci\u00f3n deb\u00eda de ser pesada, con un balanceo lateral caracter\u00edstico, pero lo suficientemente eficiente como para sobrevivir en un paisaje donde la vegetaci\u00f3n era escasa y dispersa.<\/p>\n<p>La armadura de Anthodon es uno de sus rasgos m\u00e1s distintivos.
